Pheasant Tail Simplicity isn’t about buying more gear or carrying hundreds of flies. It’s about understanding why knowledge and carefully selected tools outperform fads.
At this event, you can participate in a fly-tying workshop led by a Patagonia ambassador, Austin Campbell, and learn the time-tested tactics behind these flies. When you're done tying your fly, head on over to our see our friends at The PaperFin to learn about their inkless gyotaku kits or check out a local non-profit!
Signed copies of the book and flies from the book created with Umpqua Feather Merchants, will be available to purchase.

Fishing has been a passion for Austin’s whole life, while learning to fish for warm water species in Atchison, Kansas on his family farm, to Fly Fishing freestone and tailwaters in Colorado. Austin truly found the love for the sport from a young age and aims to share the adventure and joy this sport can bring to all. Austin took his passion to the east coast, while attending college as a track athlete at Penn State University and spending time fly fishing throughout the Appalachians.

We focus on revitalizing neglected areas of the Chicago River into vibrant green spaces that serve and uplift nearby neighborhoods.
We’re committed to inclusivity, offering free programs for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Diversity, equity, and inclusion guide our mission to make urban nature accessible to everyone.
